The Ford Popular 103E started production in 1953 and ran until 1959 as a cheaper alternative to the Ford Anglia 100E in a post-war Britain in which new cars were hard to come by due to the six and a half year cease in production. Used cars were very expensive with many having to go for a pre-war car. Ford decided to target this market with the Ford Popular 103E with a starting price of £390, it was the cheapest on the market at the time, leading to incredible success with over 150,000 being made during its production period. The simplistic Ford Popular 103E hosts a 1172cc 4 cylinder engine which produced 30bhp. Also containing a three speed transmission, the Ford Popular 103E could reach a maximum of 60.3 mph with a 0-50 mph of 24.1 seconds.
This example of the Ford Popular 103E is in good condition considering the 65 year age of the car, with a simple dashboard containing a fuel gauge, speedometer, odometer and ammeter, as well as a single vacuum powered windscreen wiper, key ignition, pull starter and choke. With just seven owners, the Popular is finished in the classic black paintwork with red interior and white wall tires.
Due to its age, this Ford Popular 103E is now MOT exempt, and is taxed as a historic vehicle.
